NOVEMBER 2008

 

Associations - Inauguration

 

Economic Association was inaugurated by Prof. Azees (Retired professor of Economics, Govt college, Mananthavady) on 4th November,2008 at 11.00 a.m. In the afternoon session the inaugurator delivered a lecture on "Scope of Economics".


Commerce association was inaugurated by Adv. Muhammed Jamal, Public prosecutor and notary on 6th November,2008 at 11.00 a.m. In the noon session he delivered a lecture on "'consumer protection Act"


History association was inaugurated on 7th November,2008 by Sri.Shinas.A.M, a famous writer and Lecturer in History, Govt. College, Kozhikode. He had given a lecture on "the historical analyses on the global economic situation.


The inauguration of Mass Communication Association was held on 10th November,2008 at college auditorium. Senior Journalist and Prasar Bharati district executive Sri. V.G. Vijayan inaugurated the function.

 

Photography Workshop

 

A two day photography workshop was conducted by the Mass Communication on 11th and 12th of November,2008. The workshop organised in the Digital theatre covered subjects such as basics of photography, types of photography and common rules to be applied while taking a photograph. The resource person was Mr.Shiju Sadhan, Lecturer on Don Bosco College Kannur.

 

Debate

A debate on "Prefer to marriage or prefer to employment" was convened by women development cell on 7th November, 2008 at 2.00 p.m. at seminar hall. Smt. Priya.P, H.O.D, Department of History acted as moderator.

 

Seminar

  Department of  Economics is decided to organize a national seminar on "The Indian Financial system and monetary policy under financial globalization", which is sponsored by Kerala State Higher Education Department, on 13th & 14th November 2008.

State Plan  Fund 2007-08

 

 1]  Rs.17,000 is granted for job oriented add on course- Communicative English.  The course started on 15th September 2008.

2]  Rs.45,000 is granted to assist DPI and DCE for sports – a coaching camp is conducted by the department of Physical Education for Football, Cricket and Athletics on Sep.2008.

3]  Rs. 1,25,000 is granted for the improvement of sports – decided to purchase sports equipments.

4]  Rs.22,350 is granted for student amenities – decided to purchase 3 Water Purifiers.

5]  Rs.1,99,800 is granted for NAAC activities  - decided to purchase Computer, Furniture etc. for NAAC Room and Principal Chamber .

6]  Rs.1,00,000 is granted for minor works – decided to meet flooring , tiling and other expenditures.

7] Rs.2,05,000 is granted for the development of Lab and Library – decided to purchase Digital SLR Camera and Library books.

8]  Rs.50,000 is granted for Faculty Development – decided to convene a Seminar in the Department of Economics.

 

Audio Visual Fund

 

Released Rs.57,200 to purchase a Public Addressing System.

 

NABARD Fund

 

    Administration sanction for Rs.2,28,00,000/- is received from Higher Education Department on 7 th July 2008.  The fund is proposed to utilize for the following infrastructural activities.

a] Academic Block – Rs.1,00,00,000/-

b] Principal Quarters – Rs.20,00,000/-

c]Teaching Staff Quarters – Rs.60,00,000/-

d] Non Teaching Staff Quarters – Rs.48,00,000/-

 

BRGF (District Collector's Fund)

 

Granted Rs.2,00,000/- for various infrastructural development.

 

CDC(2007-08)

 

Granted Rs.4,34,000/- for the purpose of infrastructural development.

OCTOBER 2008

 

Photo exhibition

 

     A photo exhibition focusing the culture of the Wayanad is organized by the Department of Mass Communication on 14th &15th October 2008 at Digital theatre.

 

DD at campus

 

     A programme named DD campus was shooted in the college campus on 15th October 2008 for telecasting it in DD4

National Seminar

 

     A National seminar on “THE INDIAN FINANCIAL SYSTEM AND MONETARY POLICY UNDER FINANCIAL GLOBALISATION" was organized by the Post Graduate Department of Commerce under the sponsorship of UGC on 24th October,2008 at seminar hall. The seminar was inaugurated by Smt. Sarasamma teacher (president, District Panchayat). Dr.M.Sarngadharan (Professor and H.O.D, Department of Commerce, University of Kerala) delivered keynote address in the inaugural session. In the first technical session Dr. Sarngadharan and Dr. D. Raju (Reader, Dept of Commerce, University of Kerala) acted as resources persons. In the second technical session Sri. Binu (Asst. Professor, D.C. Business school Wagamon) acted as resources person. In the third technical session various scholars presented papers on the concerned subjects. In the valedictory function Sri. V.T.Poulase (Former Vice-Principal) presented certificates to the participants.

SEPTEMBER 2008

NAAC Visit

     Self study report of the college is submitted to the NAAC on 29th September 2008. The probable date of visit of the peer teem is requested and communicated to the NAAC. The dates in the preferential order are December 17&18, December 10&11 or December 3&4.

AUGUST 2008

     College union inauguration

 

     College Union is inaugurated by well-known writer Mr.Paul Kallanad on 29th August. The programme is presided over by our Principle Major. O.Venugopal.

 

Women Development Cell

 

Women development cell was inaugurated by Dr.Molly Kuruvilla, Director, Centre for women's studies, University of Calicuton 22nd August 2008 at seminar hall at 10.30 am. In the evening session a seminar on 'women empowerment - a self discovery' was organised.

 

A doumentary  on tribals of Wayanad

 

     Under the banner of Alpha, the final year students B.A. Mass Communication at the NMSM Government College, Kalpetta shot a documentary "When Things Falls Apart" on their own. Their debut was released by writer and social critic Civic Chandran at Trident Arcade Auditorium in Kalpetta in August 2008.

     The documentary portrays the socio-cultural changes that ethnic tribes were found to undergo after non-tribal sections migrated to Wayanad in the first half of the last century. The film also presents with its unmatched spirit explores deep into the annals of history, analyzing in details the saga of tribal life

     Shot at vatious tribal settlements of Thirynelly, Panamaram and Muttil, it discusses the cultural identity, crisis of tribal people in Wayanad. The 28 minutes film is directed by Midhun Raj and the script is by Sarun A.Jose.

 

MARCH 2008

Retired

Our vice-principal Sri. V.T.Paulose retired from service. While appreciating the valuable services rendered to our college We wish him a happy purposeful and prosperous retired life. Smt.Tessiamma Thomas has taken charge as the vice-principal

FEBRUARY 2008

                                                                Seminar on Entrepreneurial awareness
Seminar on Entrepreneurial awareness was conducted on February 21. Industrial extension officer  Sri. Jose inaugurated the function.

                                                                  Seminar on Restructuring Higher Education
Two day seminar of Kerala Higher Education council was conducted in association with Govt. College Mananthavady. Prof. Thomas Joseph, Member secretary KSHEC Inaugurated the seminar.    

Campus Recruitment

Mahindra Group of Companies conducted a campus recruitment session on February 12.. The programme was organised by the placement cell.
                                                                        Seminar by Nature club
The Nature club organized a one day seminar on February 8. The Deputy. Conservator of forest Sri O.M Janardhanan inaugurated the seminar.
                                                                                Sports day
The annual Sports Day was conducted on February 5  in  a befitting manner in the new college playground.
 

JANUARY 2008

 Fine Arts day

Fine Arts Days 2007 -08 were celebrated on January 24 and 25. Sri Manjulan inaugurated the celebration. One act play " Konan " was  staged.

NCC official visit

The commanding officer 30(k)BN NCC Calicut  Lt. Col T.L. Kumar visited the college and addressed the NCC Cadets on  Jan 22

NSS Camp

The annual ten day NSS camp took place in the college campus.  Two important projects were undertaken: a new playground was constructed with the help of thje PTA and the NSS units adopted a tribal village near the college.

Valedictory function

The closing ceremony of silver jubilee celebrations  was inaugurated by Smt Sarasamma Teacher, district Panchayath Pre sident. The Silver jubilee memorial  information technology class room and digital theatre was inaugurated by the district collector Sri P.P Gopi. The  College Emblem was unveiled by Adv. George Pothan, District  Development standing committee chairman. Prof. V.T Poulose, who has served the college for the last twenty-five years and now functions as the vice principal, was honoured by district  collector  Sri.P.P Gopi.

DECEMBER 2007

Seminar

A one day seminar on "The Development of Wayanad and Education Aspects”, with Sree. Gagarin, block Panchayath vice president, as moderator  was conducted on Dec17 in connection with the Silver Jubilee celebrations. The event was inaugurated by Sree P. Krishnaprasad MLA,  Sulthan bathery.

Honored

On Dec 17 morning the land owner of the college, late N.Moideen Haji and the promoters honourable M.P Sree VeerendraKumar.M.P, Sree N. Moidu Haji, Adv. Mathayi, Adv Venkida Subrhamanyam, Sree P.A Muhammed, N.Mammotty Shahib ,Adv. K.Moidu et al were honored. The program was inaugurated by Sree VeerendraKumar.M.P.  Various dignitary awards were given away by Sree.M.V SreyamsKumar MLA.

NOVEMBER 2007

New Principal

Major O.VenuGopal took charge as principal of  the college on 12  Nov 2007. He has come to  the college after serving as  Vice Principal at Govt. Sanskrit College, Pattambi.

JUNE 2007

Principal bids goodbye

May 31 2007.- Principal Dr. K.Chandrashekaran Nair retired from this college after eighteen months of meritorious headship. We bid him a better farewell and pray for a peaceful retired life.Prf.
