Profile of the College
N.M.S.M Govt. College, Kalpetta, was started in October 1981 in Jinachandra Memorial Auditorium, Kalpetta. It was shifted to its present campus in 1982. The college is located 5 km away from Kalpetta. The land was donated by late Sri. Neelikandy Moideen Sahib to the college sponsoring committee. With the intention of fostering his sacred memory for the posterity, the college has been named after him- Neelikandy Moideen Sahib Memorial Govt. College.
The institute was upgraded in 1989 to the status of a degree college with the commencement of B.A in History. Subsequently, B.Com (1990), M.Com (1993), B.A Development Economics and B.A Mass Communication (1999)were started. The college has got the approval of the University for Bsc.Computer Science and MA English courses, the starting of which is delayed as the process for the approval of the state government.
The college is approved by the UGC for assistance under 2(f) and 12(b) of UGC Act 1956. In 2007 the college celebrated its silver jubilee. NACC accredited the college with C grade in January 2009.
The college has a general library. In addition to this the departments of commerce and history have their own libraries. There are two N.S.S and one N.C.C units functioning in this college. The college has a faculty strength of 29 who work in unison for the overall academic and co-curricular achievements of the student community. The college can boast of an ideal and harmonious immersion environment conducive for the teaching- learning process.
